Charity of the Month

It's rough to deal with cancer. You have to juggle the chemo, then get through surgery, and then work through the slightly easier radiation. The easy way (a cure) hasn't even been discovered yet. Join me in raising money to find a cure for this destructive disease. This July, make a little change and donate to the Jimmy Fund, so together we can make a difference.

Kitty Corner

Welcome to kitty corner! This month's topic: Talking to Your Cat. First thing to know: There is a limited number of letters in cat vocalizations. The kitty alphabet looks like this: m, r,e,o,w,h, f,& a. Now you divide vocalizations into CATegories: Hisses, Accented, and Normal. First is hisses. Hisses require 2 and only 2 letters:f and h. Make a combination sound of f and h. Now, (even though it's gross) bring just the right amount of spit into the back of your throat. DO NOT INHALE UNTIL YOU SWALLOW or you'll be sorry. Next is accented sounds. An accent in cat language is a soft "eh" sound at the very end of your cat word. Such cat words with accents are: mre, mrowmrow, mrowre, and any other place it seems right. Last is normal cat words. Cat words ALWAYS end begin with m. A few tips:
1.Keep your jaw stiff. A cat's jaw cannot move in a circle like yours can. It's made top open, shut, and kill.
2. Listen to your cat often. She speaks her language better than we ever will!
3.TALK. A lot. The more you talk, the better you get.
4. Next time your kitty meows, respond! Try to keep things short and simple at first, to keep her intrests.

TEACHER-Okay, class, it's time to read from our textbooks. Let's open to page 13,579. Oooh a jungle story. (class groans) Now, now settle down. (phone vibrates) Hello? Karen? Yes, I parked on the hill. No, no one else was going to use it today. WHAT?! Rolling down the hill?! (hangs up) Students, I must deal with an É unforeseen issue involving my car!
SONG: JUNGLE
Note: This is meant to be like a salsa. It has that type of rhythm. Corresponding numbered students are partners. Be creative, but the dance has to be very dramatic. Ev-ry-body wants to be
In the middle of the jungle
Jungle
Have they ever ever been here?
This is more
Of a jungle
Than anyone else will ever hear
If anyone journeys
Into our jungle
Just beware
Our classroom is a jungle
It's a jungle out there. (Repeat 4 times, a new instrument in the jazz band is added every time it is repeated.)
(The teacher returns, frazzled, and all the students sit down quickly and noisily. BLACKOUT)

A Recap:
In the '09-'10 school year, the DI5 was formed by a random choosing, placing Me, Alexis, Ben, Ethan, and Arunima on a team. The 5 of us formed a type of family that could never break apart. We moved only forward in Do or DI, our challenge, sending us rocketing into 1st place reigionals. I'll leave it at this for States: We didn't do so hot. The next year only put our little family to the test. Ethan wasn't there because he had too much homework. Then his replacement was another girl. A now disjointed family failed for several reasons at reigionals. Now we risk loosing another: me. I wait with baited breath to learn if I can join them again and be the great DI5 once more.
