This summer I'm going on an extended family vacation to Scarborough Maine for 9 days. The house we rent has a pool, pool table, ping pong table, and is only just about 30 seconds by foot from the beach. We got lucky because our friends go to the same beach on the same week. This means one day we can hit the nearby baseball card store together for half a day then get back to the beach and play a few wiffle ball games. After that we can get back to my cousins and hang with them in the pool in the evening. On all the other days, it's just being lazy, going to the beach, then pool, then beach, then pool. And I can tell you that's so relaxing. One night of the week, we get the whole family into the basement and have our highly entertaining talent show. That is the best night of the week. Our family is very musical, so there's always a trombone blaring, trumpet wailing, or a guitar humming. All of our cousins love a good competition, so there's always a game of cards of monopoly going on up stairs. Not to mention a good laugh coming from the uncles downstairs near the bar. Outside you can hear the faint battle cries of a hard fought badminton game. My family is really close, and there are little secrets between some of us, including one between my cousin and I. Awkwardly, it includes pinecones. Even though there are some secrets, my family is so great, and they're always there when I need them. Though there is a lot of different things going on at once, it's easy to conclude that family is caring and awesome to be with.
